Mock Trial Competition Held in San Luis Obispo
The 2008 SLO County Mock Trial Competition brought a slice of Hollywood glitz to our local courtrooms, as area high school students trieda case involving an aspiring screen writer accused of murdering a famous movie and television producer. High school trial team members were assigned to both prosecute and defend the case, with members serving as motion attorneys, trial attorneys, witnesses, and court personnel. The competition was judged by members of our local bench, and scored by panels of attorney volunteers. Templeton High School placed first in the County competition, earning it a trip to Riverside, California, to compete in the state finals. In Riverside, Templeton placed 16th out of a field of 32teams. WLA congratulates the Templeton team, their attorney coach, Dave Fleishman, and their teaching coaches, Scott Lewis, Ronna Lee, and Hannah Low. A special thanks goes out to the members of the SLO County Mock Trial Competition Committee, chaired by Johns Fricks, for their continuing dedication to the success of this program.
