MONTHLY MEETINGS:  
1st Thursday of each month (not July & August);

This month:

We will not be holding our membership meeting in June at our usual time and location; however, WLA and the SLO County Bar Association are sponsoring a joint meeting on June 19 at the Madonna Inn . Sharon Majors-Lewis, the Governor's Judicial Appointments Secretary will be the speaker and will discuss addressing diversity in the judicial appointment process. This interesting presentation qualifies for one hour of elimination of bias MCLE credit. Please see the attached flyer for details. Also, please note that since we are meeting at the Madonna Inn , RSVPs are strongly encouraged (and the fee is $10 less for members who pay by noon on June 16). I hope to see you there.

MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION:                          
WLA has supported the San Luis Obispo County Mock Trial Competition since its inception. The Competition pairs local high school student trial teams with volunteer attorney and teacher coaches in a mock trial exercise exploring current legal issues in the context of a mock criminal trial. WLA assists the program by helping to defray the costs associated with the program operations.


JUDICIAL RECEPTION:
Each October WLA hosts a reception honoring our local judicial officers for their service to the community. The reception includes a ceremonial presentation of scholarship awards to the recipients of WLA’s annual scholarship for law school students. The reception is open to all attorneys, with a reduced reservation fee for WLA members. The date of the current year’s reception will be posted soon.
