Presents

Trauma Informed Practice in the Legal Profession

November MCLE: How can trauma informed practices help attorneys in their profession? A "trauma-informed" legal professional understands trauma's effects on clients and approaches clients, and their legal issues, with that awareness in the forefront. Clients in all spectrums of the law can experience trauma, either outside of, or as a result of, the legal issues they face. A working understanding of trauma, including its origins and its impacts, can strengthen legal advocacy, improve attorney-client relationships, and ultimately improve outcomes for clients. Additionally, awareness of secondary traumatic stress can improve identification, self-care, and prevention of the negative consequences of vicarious trauma. This one hour program will provide legal professionals with information about how to identify trauma, how to adjust the attorney-client relationship, how to adopt litigation strategies, and how to prevent vicarious trauma.

The Women Lawyers Association of San Luis Obispo County is a California State Bar approved MCLE provider. This program qualifies for one (1.0) hour MCLE credit. Please Join Us!
