August 7, 2024 MCLE: You Obtained a Judgment, Now What?

Join attorneys Michael Haupt and Lisa Hamon as they provide a detailed discussion regarding judgment collection and enforcement. This program will discuss the basics of judgment enforcement mechanics including locating assets, determining collectability, and various ways to enforce a judgment. In addition it will discuss managing client expectations of recovery.

OUR SPEAKERS:
Michael Haupt
Michael's practice is focused heavily on business and contract disputes, disputes and litigation arising out of the development, purchase, sale, lease and finance of real property, surety claims and other construction-related matters, probate and trust litigation, title insurance claims, and a variety of other insurance-related disputes. Michael handles all aspects of litigation for his clients, including trial and appellate work in both state and federal courts throughout the Central Coast and the State of California. Michael also has extensive experience in resolving disputes on behalf of his clients through mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
In addition to his litigation and trial practice, Michael also is regularly involved in the negotiation and drafting of business and real estate transactions on behalf of his clients.
Michael grew up in San Luis Obispo, attending both Old Mission School and Mission College Preparatory. Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree with High Honors from University of California at Santa Barbara, where he was a two-time recipient of the Big West Scholar-Athlete Award, and received his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. During law school, Michael served as an editor on the Law Review and was a judicial extern for the Honorable Ronald M. Whyte of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
Michael is licensed to practice before all courts in the State of California, the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern District Courts of California, as well as the Second and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals. Michael is also a member of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association, where he served on the Board of Directors from 2010-2014.
Lisa Hamon
Lisa practices in the areas of business law, civil litigation, and real estate. Lisa’s transactional experience includes business entity formation, representing clients in the sale, purchase, transfer, and leasing of real property, and contract negotiation and drafting. Lisa also has experience drafting easements, covenants, conditions & restrictions, and other related documents.
In the litigation context, Lisa represents clients in business and real estate disputes, including breach of contract claims, quiet title actions, surety claims and other construction-related disputes, and landlord/tenant matters.
Lisa earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California at Davis. She received her J.D., with Great Distinction, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where she was inducted into the Traynor Honor Society.
Lisa is a current board member of the Women Lawyers Association and previously served as chair of the Legislative Committee for the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce.
