March 2025 MCLE: WLA, in conjunction with the SLO County District Attorney's Office, invite you to attend an informative MCLE presented by Deputy District Attorney Kristin Barnard regarding prosecuting sexual assault and domestic violence cases. Kristin Barnard will discuss the unique challenges of these cases, from the initial case filing to jury trial. 

We will also celebrate the contributions of Stephanie Barclay, Executive Director of SLO Legal Aid Foundation. Stephanie was voted by WLA's board as the recipient of this year's Outstanding Women Lawyer (OWL) award.

The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office is a California State Bar approved MCLE provider. This program qualifies for one (1.0) hour of MCLE - participatory credit.

OUR SPEAKER:

KRISTIN BARNARD
Deputy District Attorney

Kristin Barnard began her career as a victim advocate, working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and child abuse. After 10 years as a victim advocate, she attended law school to become a prosecutor. In 2013, Kristin began working as a Deputy District Attorney in Kern County where she handled various assignments from Robbery and Domestic Violence, to Attempted Murder. While at the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, Kristin also established the first Family Justice Center designed to assist victims of Domestic Violence and served as Executive Director. After working for several years as a prosecutor in the Domestic Violence Unit, she and her family relocated to San Luis Obispo where Kristin began working for the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office. Currently, Kristin works in the Sexual Assault Crimes Unit.

All proceeds will go toward the WLA scholarship fund and the other worthy events hosted by the WLA.
