OUR SPEAKERS:
Stephanie Barclay
SLOLAF Legal Director Stephanie Barclay graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1996 and practiced civil litigation at several Bay Area law firms, eventually becoming a Deputy Attorney General at the California Attorney General’s Office in the False Claims Section before returning to her hometown of San Luis Obispo in 2003. Stephanie worked as an Associate Attorney at the San Luis Obispo law firm Ogden & Fricks LLP, practicing business and real estate law when she was invited to join the SLO Legal Alternatives Board of Directors in 2011. In 2013, the Board of Directors hired Stephanie as the Project Director of Senior Legal Services Project, and in 2014 promoted her to Executive Director of the organization. Stephanie increased the ability of SLOLAF to assist the most underserved in the county and fostered strategic partnerships with other service providers. As a result of this growth, at the end of 2018 SLOLAF was able to hire a full-time Executive Director and appointed Stephanie full-time Legal Director to enable her to focus on providing legal services.
Sadie Weller
SLOLAF Staff Attorney Sadie Weller grew up in San Luis Obispo and graduated from SLO High in 2009. She received a Bachelor’s degree in metabolic biology from UC Berkeley in 2012 and a law degree from UC Davis School of Law in 2017. After law school, she worked as a graduate law clerk at the Contra Costa County Public Defender’s Office in Martinez, California. She then worked as an eviction defense attorney at Legal Assistance to the Elderly in San Francisco, helping seniors and adults with disabilities remain in their homes. Looking to return to SLO and contribute to her home community, Sadie joined the staff of SLOLAF in January 2020. Sadie enjoys hiking, re-discovering the Central Coast, rooting for the Lakers, and spending time with her family.
